Go Ahead – Try It On!!

dress picHave you ever gone shopping, saw something interesting, but just did not have the nerve to try it on? Saying, “it’s not my style,” or “that would never look good on me?”

I know I have.  Thankfully,  a lot of the time, with the encouragement of others, including my husband, I try it on anyway.  And sometimes it looks really good on me.  Sometimes not.

Recently my husband and I were on a getaway to Jacksonville for New Years.  We were exploring the Riverside neighborhood shops and came upon a cute, funky little shop called Edge City.  Full of clothing, shoes and accessories I would never find in Tallahassee.

We started browsing and a few pieces caught my eye, but I thought, “that’s not something I would wear.”  Then I thought to myself, “Why the heck not?”, so I pulled a couple of them.  And my husband started picking some up and showing them to me.  Then I tried them on.

And it was fun!

When all was said and done, I bought two dresses that I would never had thought would look good on me (see image for my jazzy purchase.)  But you really never know until you try it on.

What’s the worst that can happen?  You laugh and say, “no way, Jose.”

For instance, I tried on a really cute top with cap sleeves.  Darling Deco print.  Gathered in the back.  But those cap sleeves.  Ugh.  There’s nothing like highlighting wrinkly upper arms.  So, I let it go.  No harm done trying it on.

That’s how you figure out what looks good and what doesn’t.

So the next time you stick up your nose at something you see in a store – Go ahead, try it on!!  It just might look fantastic on you!

Have you ever experimented with trying things on and things went really well or really bad?  Share in the comments – I’d love to hear from you.
