In today’s reading from Matthew 28, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb after having seen an angel of the Lord at the tomb. The angel had told them not to be afraid, that Jesus was not in the tomb and that He had risen from the dead. He said to go tell the disciples that Jesus would meet them in Galilee. As they ran from the tomb, they were filled with great joy, but also frightened. As they went, Jesus appeared to them. They ran to Him, grasped His feet, and worshiped Him. Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid!”
Now if you were Mary M. and had experienced all this, and then saw Jesus, what would you do? As I sat with this thought this morning, all I could think of to do was also fall at His feet and worship Him. I don’t think I could even look at Him, I would be so filled with love, awe, and excitement. He has risen and He is right in front of me! Take a few minutes and think about what you would do…..
