It may still be snowing where you are, but spring is fast approaching. And the season of Lent (which we are in) and spring are a great time for reflection. We have the promise of Easter and renewal ahead of us.
I recommend taking some quiet time and writing down areas in your life that are bothering you or maybe where you just need a fresh start. Set aside the time daily – it doesn’t have to take a lot of time, just focused time.
Here are some areas where you might want to spend some time reflecting:
Health: Are you in good health or do you need to make some changes? Do you need to lose weight, cut down on sugar, or lower your cholesterol or blood pressure? Do you need to start or be consistent about an exercise program? What would be fun, easy and you know you could stick to? What are the thoughts you are having around getting or not getting healthier? Once you identify them, then you can work on changing them. Pick a new way of eating or exercising, commit to it and get it done!
Relationships: Is there a relationship in your life where you are having trouble? Spouse, significant other, parents, children, friends, coworkers, boss? What are the thoughts you are having relative to this relationship? How do you feel when you think about them or interact with them? How are you acting with them? What happens? How can you change either the way you are thinking about them and interacting with them?
Work: Are you happy in your work? Do you look forward to going to work every day? If not, have you looked into changing jobs and what are the obstacles to doing that? If you are retired or out of work and would like to go back to work, are you actively looking online or in a brick and mortar? Have you taken advantage of resources available to update your resume’? Have you let your friends and colleagues know you are looking? Have you joined LinkedIn? Again, what are the thoughts you may be having around your work or the lack of work? Your thoughts may be preventing you from moving forward.
So there are three concrete areas on which you can reflect this season of Lent or this spring. It’s time to make some changes! The earth is renewing itself and so can you!!
If you have reflected on these things and need some help sorting through them, so you can move forward, please contact me here. I am ready and more than willing to jump in and guide you through it.
