Which way should I go?

Isaiah 30-21“No longer will your Teacher hide himself, but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher, And your ears shall hear a word behind you: “This is the way; walk in it,” when you would turn to the right or to the left.”  Isaiah 20-21

How many times in the past year have you had to make a decision – big or small?  Hundreds, probably. And how many times did you deliberate for hours and maybe days, if they were big ones?

I know that I have been deliberating about various aspects of my business for months.  You may be trying to decide whether to stay or leave a job or a spouse.  You think and think and think and no right answer comes to you.  You may weigh the pros and cons for days or weeks.

When I first read this verse from Isaiah, I felt as if the pressure was off.  I did not have to be in charge of making the decision any more.  All I had to do was listen for my Teacher to tell me which direction to take.

However, how many of us are really good at listening?  We constantly have the radio, television, podcasts (my new obsession), phones, mp3s and other noisemakers going all the time.  I know I constantly listen to “experts” telling me how to create a successful business.  And much of it is just habit.  Quiet may make you uncomfortable.  But how can the Teacher speak to us if we don’t allow time for quiet?

Today, why not try turning off all noisemakers while you are in the car, on your walk or while you exercise, or doing chores around the house for a change?  It may surprise you what answers you may hear from your Teacher.  He has all the answers – if you make time to listen to what He has to say.

I would love to know what you hear when you try this.  Leave a comment below if you would like to share.  Have a blessed day!
