So, so many times over the past 8 years of retirement, I have asked God to show me His plans for me. Meanwhile, I tried this and that (hospital volunteering, medical assistant school, bible college…), not really finding the thing that really lit me up. Although, looking back now, I realize that He did have a plan for me – helping my daughter with my twin grandchildren. I was also blessed with being asked to do work as a research assistant at the FSU Medical School part-time which I love. But I still kept asking and asking, “Is this it, Lord?”
One constant through all this was my faith. I got deeper and deeper into the Word and learning about scripture. I became more and more passionate about Jesus, loving praise music, and just spending time with the Lord. But in my journal, I still asked, “Show me, Lord, show me what you want me to do with the rest of my life.” I started a wardrobe consulting and styling business and then began life coaching training. But still asking,”Is this it, Lord?” I am not a patient person and it is difficult for me to wait. But Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him,” and I was doing a lousy job of doing that…
Just in the past few months, though, He has started to show me what He wants me to do. Listening helps, instead of always asking. My life coaching was leaving me cold, until I realized that I had to combine my faith with my coaching. I love encouraging people, especially with scripture. Eureka!! He is showing me. I just had to be quiet long enough to hear His voice. Now I am speaking at churches to women of faith about God’s love, forgiveness, finding your purpose, taking care of your body and lots more. I am working one-on-one with women, encouraging and helping them where they are stuck. I needed to step out and be my authentic self and He helped me do that.
My recommendation to you, if you are wondering what God’s plans for you are, is to Listen and Wait and do what you love and feels authentic to you. He will show you the way.

Dear Lord, thank you for showing me the way you want me to go and for giving me the courage to get there, even if I had to wait and listen. You are awesome! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
